What are USB Classes?
USB classes are grouped into similar devices like Audio, Human Interface Devices (HID), and Mass Storage, that use a standardised set of commands allowing them to share a common USB class driver.
The host machine then uses these classes to identify a device’s functionality and to load a device driver based on that specific functionality. So your PC knows when a keyboard is connected and what to do with the data it receives, or when a USB flash drive is added that is can share files through documents manager.
Key USB Classes
Below are examples of the key USB classes which are regularly encountered and can also be filtered via our dedicated application.
